Evaluation of Rice Straw Ash as a Pozzolanic Addition in Cementitious Mixtures

چکیده

Rice husk ash is one of the most widely studied biomass ashes used in pozzolanic addition. Given its lower silica content, rice straw (RSA) has been explored less often, despite fact that, according to United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), (RS) production estimated at 600 million tons/year. In this work, RSA was physically chemically characterized, properties were assessed. A controlled conditioning, burning, homogenization grinding procedure carried out obtain from RS. Chemical composition, insoluble residue, reactive silica, chloride content particle size distribution assessed for characterization. To determine pozzolanicity, Frattini, electrical conductivity pH measurements an aqueous suspension hydrated CH/RSA mixtures obtained. Portland cement (PC) mortars with 15% 30% substitutions evaluated. The mechanical tests showed specimens a strength activity index up 90% 80% RSA, respectively, after 3 days, these values grew 107–109% 90 curing days.

Pozzolanic Reactivity of Silica Fume and Ground Rice Husk Ash as Reactive Silica in a Cementitious System: A Comparative Study

This study comparably assessed the pozzolanic effect of silica fume (SF) and ground rice husk ash (RHA) as supplementary cementing materials on the properties of blended cement pastes and concretes. A commonly commercial silica fume (SF) and locally-produced rice husk ash (RHA) samples with two finenesses (one with larger size than cement and the other with smaller size than cement) were used i...

Evaluation of Coal Waste Ash and Rice Husk Ash on Properties of Pervious Concrete Pavement

The use of pervious concrete has been significantly considered in recent years. This consideration is due to the properties of pervious concrete in relating to the environmental sustainability that is utilized in the effective management of the runoff from rainfall. Coal extraction and rice husk obtained from milling, produces wastes that have no application and followed by environmental pollut...

Reduction of Ash Sintering Precursor Components in Rice Straw by Water Washing

The thermal conversion of rice straw is an attractive option for recovering its energy, but the process requires exhaustive control because of ashrelated problems. Straw washing is one method of reducing ash-related problems and improving combustion behaviour. In this study, the ash of washed and unwashed rice straw samples was chemically characterized, tested using thermogravimetric analysis a...
